Champion School Competition

The secondary schools cricket competitions are open to all year 10 – 12 school aged children and are conducted by the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) together with the Western Australian Schools Cricket Council (WASCC). The Kim Hughes Shield is the premier schools cricket competition in WA.

 

The competition’s purpose is to provide WA secondary school students with an opportunity to participate in formats of cricket suited to all levels of ability. It is also designed to encourage schools to foster in their student’s ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty and strength of application, as well as identify and consolidate a sense of loyalty to the school and a strong spirit for players, students, staff, parents and the general community.

  • One Day action packed carnivals during the week of 21 – 25 October 2019
  • Boys and Girls divisions (Year 7 & 8 and Year 9 & 10)
  • Modified format – 4 rounds played on the day
  • Available for Metro area schools (North East, North West, South East, South West & Peel), Country Carnivals may also occur
  • Enter as many teams as you like!
  • Winning schools from each division in each carnival receive a pennant and progress through to the State Finals
  • State Finals: Thursday 31 October 2019 (Britannia Reserve, Leederville)
  • Prizes to be won (Champions)! Winning school receives State Championship Shield.

  • Girls only competition (modified junior cricket format)
  • Kooka Softa ball & equipment
  • Available for Metro area schools
  • Starts in Term 4 – week 3, 6 Week competition
  • Two divisions: Year 7/8 and Year 9/10
  • 7 players per team
  • 14 – 16 overs per side, overs are flexible, match finished in under 2 hours
  • Schools can enter multiple teams
  • Grand Final: Week 8 or 9. School at the top of table hosts Grand Final
