A person who has an impairment in body structures and functions that leads to a competitive disadvantage in sport is able to be classified to compete in sport following the Paralympic guidelines.

The three main impairments are;

• Vision impairment

• Intellectual impairment

• Physical impairment

  • Loss of muscle power e.g. spinal cord injury/nerve damage/spina bifida

  • Loss of  range of movement e.g. fused ankle

  • Cerebral Palsy/acquired brain injury

  • Short stature

  • Limb deficiency (amputee) from birth or acquired

  • Limb length difference

• SSWA Cross Country 
  • Secondary Cross Country – Friday, 17^th May  2019
  • Primary Cross Country – Friday, 9^th August 2019
• School Sport Australia Swimming Championships – Melbourne, Victoria
  • Secondary (13 – 19 years) – Saturday 27^th July – Wednesday 31^st July 2019
  • Primary (10 – 12 years) – Wednesday 31^st July – Friday 2^nd August 2019

• Table Tennis – TBA

Vision Impairment – Athletics Australia or Athletics WA

Intellectual Impairment – Sport Inclusion Australia (formally Ausrapid)

Physical Impairment – Wheelchair Sports WA (Rebound WA)
