AFL 15s Girls Training Session Information

Thank you to all those players (and their families and friends) who were able to make it to our session at All Saints’ College on Saturday. Both sessions ran really smoothly and allowed our team of staff to get to know the players better, educate them further on some basic football skills and knowledge as well as collect more data to help us make our first selections after our next sessions. Speaking of the next sessions, they will take place on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 April. Players only need to come to one session. The session on Thursday will be held at Lake Joondalup Baptist College and the session on the Friday will be held at All Saints’ College. Both sessions will run from 10am till 1pm. I have placed you in groups and the list of players and the session that they have been appointed to, is below. I have placed players in groups based on where they nominated for the Talent Search and/or what I thought would be the closest location. HOWEVER, if the session location or date does not suit you, please let me know ASAP and I will see if I can swap you. The next session will mainly revolve around Fitness Testing. Players will need to bring runners and clothes comfortable to do fitness testing in. Players also need to bring boots, as we may get some footy skills in too. Make sure you also bring a water bottle. As I mentioned to all players last Saturday, make fitness your friend! Don’t be afraid of it. Look after yourself over the next two weeks and then do the best you can in your fitness testing with us. It is better to see players stick it out and try their best, then to pull out half way through a test. The process after the Fitness Testing is that the coaching staff will sit down and look at all of the data we have collected do far, including the fitness testing and make some decisions on selections. We will make our first selection after the Fitness Testing and a smaller group of players will be invited to our next two sessions before we have to make a call on our final travelling squad of 24 players and our development squad of up to 30 players who will be invited to stay with our Program. I have attached a timeline at it currently stands so you can see the commitment expected in the future. For some players, your 2018 journey with our State 15s Program will finish after the Fitness Testing. Don’t be discouraged or scared of this. Take all of these experiences as learning opportunities and make the most of it.
