SSWA Interstate Surfing Team Achieve great results in Victoria

In 2016 the SSWA / Surfing WA Junior Surfing team travelled to Phillip Island to compete in the School Sport Australia Junior Surfing Titles. Conditions for the finals day was picture perfect. Excellent waves and sunny skies had many competitors and spectators forgetting the cold conditions experienced earlier in the week.

Team WA achieved its greatest result in this competitions history. Whilst there were some excellent individual performances within the team, the support and cohesiveness shown by all Team WA surfers and officials was very impressive and undoubtedly led to the results achieved by Team WA this year.

Team WA Titles/Finalists

 – Jack Thomas – U/18 Boys National Champion

 – Jamaica Selby – U/16 Girls National Champion

 – April McPherson – U/16 Girls 4th Place

 – Ben Spence and Jack Haslau (Margaret River Senior High School)

             – National U/19   Boys MR Shield Champions.

– Emma Cattlin and Marnie Durant – National U/19 Girls All-Stars Champions.

– Alex McGuffin and Duke Nagtzaam – National U/19 Boys All-Stars Runner-Up.

 – April McPherson and Jamaica Selby – National U/16 Girls All-Stars Runner-Up.

 Team WA – Runner-Up National Tag Team Final.

The following students were included in the honorary School Sport Australian Team:
